Parents

We appreciate the trials you may be facing parenting a child with SEND. Our aim is to build a protective cocoon of support around you and your child by guiding you through some of the hurdles you may face. Remember, at IncludeME Learning you are never alone, we are here to support you every step of the way. Various channels of support are available to you, including:

Consultation

A private consultation with Saba, our founder offers you the opportunity to voice your worries and concerns and start to look to the future for positive solutions. Consultations offer you emotional support which focus on effective practical solutions.

Saba can help you understand the reasons for specific challenges a child faces. She strongly believes that behaviour is communication and the key is to understand what the child is trying to tell us. This enables you with our support to effectively remove barriers that stand in the way of achievement.

From experience we have found that it is usually necessary to have regular consultations from time to time for a period of time.

Advocacy

Through our consultations, workshops and webinars we coach you to be an effective advocate for your child. We can also offer:

  • Practical advice on how to advocate for your child effectively at meetings and in writing so SENCOs and teachers are more likely to respond to you and your child’s needs
  • Writing letters and emails etc on your behalf
  • Attending meetings with you. School meetings can be an emotional roller coaster. It helps to have a mediator that can guide the conversation in a positive direction so all parties leave with clarity and focus

Interpretation of Professional Reports

If your child has had professional assessments you may find yourself confused and overwhelmed with the results. Saba, our Founder is able to explain these results in simple terms. She will provide a detailed explanation and work with you to plan the next steps of putting the support and accommodations your child needs in place at home and/or at school. This explanation can be in person or in writing.

IEP Writing and Reviews

IEPs must have SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time bound) targets that focus on areas that will have the greatest impact on the social and academic wellbeing of your child. We can review existing IEPs or write them from scratch with you. We will also work with you to prepare for IEP review meetings suggesting how to approach the meeting, what questions to ask and how to ensure the most appropriate support is put in place to ensure the best outcomes for your child. If you prefer, we may also be able to attend meetings with you.

Assessments

Sometimes additional assessments may be needed to further understand how best to help your child. Some of these can be conducted by Saba. Other more in depth assessments will need to be undertaken by professional therapists eg Speech Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists or Educational Psychologists. We are able to recommend trusted practitioners who can help you. Rest assured that these recommendations are based on merit and personal experience. IncludeME Learning does not benefit from them in any way.

Workshops and Webinars

From time to time we organise workshops and webinars many of which are guest speakers. These cover many popular topics.

We would love to hear from you if there is a particular topic you would like us to cover.
